Can I still reject my car?

Enter a few dates and details. We show which of your rights may still be open: cooling-off, the used car warranty, the right to reject the car and the time limits for a claim.

When you can reject your car

Can I still reject my car? The answer depends on several rights, each with its own time limit. If you bought from a licensed dealer and have not taken delivery, you may be able to cancel within three clear business days after signing.1 A licensed dealer’s used car warranty covers eligible cars for 3 months or 5,000 km, whichever comes first.2 If a fault is a major failure, you may be able to reject the car, but only within the rejection period, which is not a fixed number of days.3 A claim against the manufacturer must be started within 3 years after you became aware of the failure.4 Cooling-off and the used car warranty do not apply to commercial vehicles.5

The cooling-off count leaves out weekends and public holidays observed throughout Victoria.6 Your answers stay on your device; nothing is sent to us unless you choose Start online.
